TILE

You have two options if your tile is looking antiquated, worn, or outdated: invest the  money to replace it, or do it yourself and reglaze it. Applying a two-part liquid epoxy or  resin compound to refinish or reglaze tile, results in a durable, glossy surface. The  majority of the supplies you'll need for the project are included in tile restoration and  resurfacing kits, so you might not need to purchase all of the previously listed  equipment and supplies. This enables you to restore the appearance of your tile for a  lot less money than replacement.

The instructions in your refinishing kit must always be read and followed. The  fundamental procedures and steps needed to perform a tile reglazing process are  listed here, along with suggestions and things to keep in mind.

Tile Reglazing

Reglazing tile, commonly referred to as refinishing or resurfacing tile, is a less  expensive DIY option for repair damaged or old tilework. It includes putting an epoxy  or resin coating that dries to a durable, porcelain-like surface. Learn more by reading  on.

Required Tools

∙ Roller for foam paint

∙ Tray for paints

∙ Foam Paint Brush

∙ Sandpaper with Fine Grit

∙ Metal Putty Knife

Materials Required

∙ A powerful tile cleaner

∙ All-Purpose Powder Cleaner

∙ Sticky Cloth

∙ Artist's tape

∙ Sponge

1. Plan and Prepare

Due to the required drying and curing period, reglazing tile requires more than one  day. That implies that you won't be able to utilize the area completely for at least a

day. If you want to reglaze bathroom tiles, utilize a different bathroom for  the processing period since moisture and humidity will prevent the tiles from drying.

To get started, set up your area by first making sure it's sufficiently ventilated because  the cleaning solutions and chemicals used for reglazing are irritating. To provide  proper ventilation, open the windows and turn on the fans. Regarding the minimum  and maximum humidity levels and temperature ranges necessary for your product to  function effectively, refer to the instruction manual.

Remove all loose materials from your workspace. Be sure to remove shower curtains  and any other detachable things before you reglaze your shower or bathtub.

3. Protect surfaces, fixtures, and yourself

Apply artists' tape where the surfaces meet the tile after allowing them to dry. Cover  any fittings, such as shower heads and tub spouts, with plastic. To protect the floor  and other close fixtures, such as the toilet, spread out a drop cloth.

5.Mix and apply the reglazing material

Pour the refinishing kit's prescribed formula (which often consists of a color and a  hardener) into a paint tray after thoroughly mixing it and letting it sit for the amount of  time recommended in the package directions. Apply the coating with a foam brush in  corners, along edges, and in other places where the roller cannot reach completely.  After that, cover your tiles with the roller, being sure to create an equal coat.

7. Permit Drying

Normally, the artists' tape needs to be removed after at least 45 minutes. For the  cleanest removal, pull at a 45° angle. After that, give the freshly refinished tiles the  complete curing period recommended in the product instructions without touching  them. Wait until the finish is totally dry before caulking again if you removed the  caulking prior to painting.

2. Scrape, clean, and sand your tiles

To properly clean your tile, use a tile cleaner or powder all-purpose cleaner while  wearing gloves and eye protection. Use a putty knife to scrape off any adhered debris.  Use any cleaning chemical that is included and be sure to check your package for  particular cleaning recommendations. Wearing a mask will help protect you from the  fumes.

To get rid of any debris or soap residue, scrub your tiles. Rinse completely since any  soap residue left behind may inhibit effective bonding.

Working in a circular motion, sand the tiles.

Important Information

Your tiles will be less likely to sustain damage if you use sandpaper with a finer grit,  such as 120 grit or higher.

Tip

Use a putty knife or a razor blade to remove the caulk if you intend to replace it.

4. Dust and Prime

The last step of preparation is to use a tack rag to remove any remaining dust or other  foreign items while wearing a respirator mask. Next, apply the primer as instructed by  the refinishing kit, and give it some time to dry.

6. Apply a second coat

To determine how long the coating should cure before the second coat, refer to the  product instructions. Then, using the same technique and moving in the same  direction, apply a new layer. You could occasionally require a third coat, such as when  changing the color drastically.

8. Clean Your Reglazed Tile and Enjoy It

Cleaning the tiles with a non-abrasive cleanser is necessary once any fresh caulking  has dried and the coating has fully set to a firm finish. Your newly reglazed tile is then  ready for use.

HOW IT WORKS
WE MAKE TILE FLOOR INSTALLATION STRESS FREE!
Step 1: Define and Capture Your Vision - Blueprint Your Goals
Preparation:
The first step is to prepare the floor. This includes cleaning the floor thoroughly and making sure it is level. If the floor is not level, you will need to use a self-leveling compound to even it out.
Step 2: Refine and Solidify Your Vision - Fine-tune Your Objectives
Measuring and marking:

Once the floor is ready, you need to measure and mark it to determine where the tiles will be placed. Use a chalk line or laser level to mark straight lines on the floor, and make sure the lines are square to the room.
Step 3: Implement and Achieve Your Vision - Execute Your Action Plan
Laying the tiles:
The next step is to lay the tiles. Start by applying a thin layer of adhesive to a small section of the floor, and then lay the tiles in the adhesive, making sure they are straight and level. Use spacers to keep the tiles evenly spaced.
Step 4: Sustain and Evaluate Your Vision - Monitor Your Progress and Adjust Accordingly
Grouting:
After the tiles are laid, it's time to grout them. Mix the grout according to the manufacturer's instructions, and then use a grout float to apply the grout to the tile joints. After the grout has dried for about 10-15 minutes, wipe the surface of the tiles with a damp sponge to remove any excess grout. Allow the grout to dry for 24-48 hours before walking on the floor.
